barefoot

We make our heads big with knowledge but our hearts stay asleep...

I love being barefoot. Though I do have a tiny obsession with shoes, there is nothing sweeter than hearing the creeks in a old floor or the feeling of sand beneath your toes... Today when Drew and I got home I must have left mine on. We sat down on the couch for our routine Sunday nap (another favorite of mine). He said "take your shoes off and stay a while"... Tonight I sat down indian style with my journal, hoping to catch a glimpse of my Father's heart beat and my husband's words echoed... "take your shoes off and stay a while"... my mind raced to images of Moses and "holy ground", how unworthy I am, how Holy He is. I start to sing a line from the Harlot's song and I am overwhelmed as He invites me upward, inward, outward... come up higher... take your shoes off child, why don't you stay a while?

lovers in love

So I have to brag for a minute...

I remember being a little girl. My mom had these white lace curtains that I used to pretend was my wedding veil.  I used to tape little rocks to my finger and pretend I had a wedding ring. My childhood consisted of many dreams of being someone's wife... and now, I am. Andrew's love for me is a pure reflection of Christ's love...
This verse is one of my favorites... we recited this after our vows.
..Do not urge me to leave you or turn back from you. For where you go, I will go. Where you stay, I will stay. Your people will be by people and your God, my God. Where you die I will die. There I will be buried. May the Lord deal with me ever so severely is anything but death separates you and I.. Ruth 1:16-17

I found this tonight...
When asked to describe his wife: "I can tell you who she is to me: my wife, my help mate, my soul mate, the one who holds my heart, a fighter, she's brilliant, she's my better half, a true worshipper, a smile personified, a breath of fresh air, my refreshment, an angel on earth, my heart beat, my passion, lovely, a beauty that does not fade, my breath, she inspires everyone she meets, she's a lover of truth, my miracle, she loves the unlovable, she's kind, she's fights for justice, she is my laugh- the very reason I smile, my joy, my happiness, she's a dreamer, she has taught me what true blessing looks like, she's my favorite person to be with, my safe haven, a reflection of Jesus, my love, my life."

Our wedding rings are engraved "bundles of restoration will be our bedding"... he restores my hope in God, in humanity, in myself...

Life or something like it...

So... here I am...
I'm back to blogging... Here are some updates from 2008 thus far...
-We are (hopefully) 1 day away from closing on our first house!
-Andrew is still working at NIPSCO, he says he loves it, though I question how anyone can possibly enjoy playing with numbers all day.
-I started working 3 months ago for Youth for Christ in their Juvenile Justice department. I teach art classes to kids in juvie and do a little chaplaincy as well. I LOVE IT!.
-I branded my feet with ink... The right one is a Psalm "Your unfailing love is my comfort", the left one is one of the logos for To Write Love on Her Arms and says "Love is the Movement". For more info go to www.twloha.com
-No kids yet, but its not for lack of trying ;)
-We celebrated our 1 year anniversary on June 2nd.
-This has been the greatest/hardest/craziest/most amazing/insane/saddest/happiest year of my entire life, I wouldn't change it for a thing!
-I survived my first real winter, now I know why Florida is full of "snow birds".
-My brother Matt graduated from West Point and was commissioned a second Lieutenant of the US Army! HOOAH!
-It doesn't get any easier, I miss my family more and more everyday... but I know this is where we're supposed to be (for now).
-Life is beautiful...

These are just a few photos of life in Indiana...
